This free event is presented by the Ladies of the Lakes and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to educate on upcycling, mending, and fitting clothes in a hands-on environment. The focus is intended to be on gender-affirming style, comfort in your body, and eco/budget-friendly reuse.

About the event
Sister Sindy Slide (She/Hers) is hosting and providing hands-on education with the below topics, please bring your supplies and projects to work on:
- How to thread a machine (showing on a more complicated and an accessible machine) and problem solving
- Ironing/fabric maintenance
- General skills
- Basic hand stitching
- Fit alterations
- How to measure your body (with accommodations for those with body dysmorphia)
- How to add to a garment to make it larger
- How (and where) to remove fabric to make things smaller
- Waistbands (elastic or Adjustable, how to keep a button and zipper in place while up-or downsizing)
- Cloning and patterning
- How to “clone” a garment that already fits well
- How to choose fabric
- Making a pattern
- Upcycling
- Thrifting items to alter
- Dyeing
- Patching
- Other creative techniques (freezer paper stencils, Bleach dye, ETC)
- Mending
- Fixing thigh rub areas
- Hiding stains
- How to add pockets
The Sisters are a nonprofit that works with and for the local LGBTQIA community, and would accept (but do not require) any donations towards their work at the event, thank you!
